"I have a passion for helping people through life's transition points"

About the Coach

.
Hi I am Roger, coach, entreprenuer and mindfulness guide. I specialise in helping people in their 40's, 50's, 60's and beyond navigate life transitions.

My transition into coaching and mindfulness training started a decade ago. Odd how things happen in life, in 2015 both endings and new beginnings arrived at my doorstep. Too often we confuse endings with finality, that year reminded me that endings so often give us the key to how we can begin anew and start a new chapter.

Since then I ve been on a mission, it's a bold mission, one that perhaps I will be on until my beard is long and grey and I look a bit like Gandalf.

Whats the mission ?

"To unlock the very best in human potential, to empower each and every person that comes on this journey with me to not hold back, to not wait until the last two weeks of life and wonder where it has all gone. To restore peace and balance and allow others to uncover a meaningful and hopeful future...."

Credentials

Whilst almost anyone can hang a shingle and call themselves a coach, it is important before you decide on a coaching journey that you know your coach is qualified and trained.

  • On the 6th April 2017 I completed the Mindfulness CIC, CPD accredited teacher training programme

  • On the 10th October 2018 I officially qualified as coach, achieving a level 5 diploma in performance coaching and NLP.

  • In March 2024 I attended and successfully completed training with the fellowship of professional celebrants to become a funeral celebrant, which although not a role I intend to move into, has given me a greater insight and understanding of life's final transition, as well as supporting the living through loss and grief and building a new life on the other side of loss.

  • I am committed to ongoing development and training to further my understanding and ability as a coach.

  • I also work with a professional coaching supervisor, who is trained and qualified to spot my blind spots, ensure I am working to strict ethical standards and to ensure I provide the highest quality of coaching services in today's changing world.

  • I am a member of The European Mentoring and Coaching Council and adhere to their strict code of ethics.

  • I am fully insured by Holistic Insurance services, to teach mindfulness as well as to operate as a coach. Public and products liability of £5,000,000 (certificate available on request)

Beyond Coaching....

When I am not coaching, you can often find me on the back of a boat, immersed in my passion for the inland waterways of the UK.

My journey began many years ago when I went to work as a crew member on a restaurant boat, which quickly evolved into working on hotel boats that navigated the extensive river and canal network across the country, showing our amazing inland waterways to groups of passengers and guests. At one point, I even lived aboard my own canal boat.

In 1998, at the grand old age of 18, I proudly obtained my Skippers Boatmaster's license. To this day, whenever time permits, I enjoy skippering on the trip boat "The Mercia Swan" for the fantastic team at Boat Street, Mercia Marina, Willington, or taking groups of people out on the water to enjoy a retreat day away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Whenever the opportunity arises to link my coaching and mindfulness training work with the peace and tranquility of being on the water, I do so, often offering retreat days out on a canal boat, or making sure we integrate this element into sessions and retreat days, fostering a sense of community, shared experience and linking with the serene experience of being by water.

I share my life with my partner of 18 years and our beloved 15-year-old terrier, George, who completes our little family.
